James is a partner and specialist in our risk transfer team, which he established in 2007.
He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2003 and joined Hymans Robertson in 2007, having previously spent nine years at Hewitt (now Aon). James' expertise is working with trustees and sponsoring employers to help them find opportunities to reduce and insure their pension scheme's risks in a cost effective and intelligent way.
James and the risk transfer team have led the advice on well over 100 buy-in, buy-out and longevity swap transactions ranging from £5m to £6bn in size, including 29 with FTSE 100 sponsoring employers. These transactions have insured £50bn of pension scheme liabilities.
James is also a regular speaker at conferences and his views on buy-ins, buy-outs and longevity hedging are often quoted in the press.
