James is a Partner at Mercer and our UK Chief Investment Officer. He has 24 years' industry experience and has been with Mercer since 2010. As UK CIO, James is responsible for the leadership and oversight of our investment solutions, portfolios and investment strategy for the UK market. Prior to taking on the CIO role in January 2023, James was UK Head of Investment Strategy for 8 years. He has experience in a broad range of investment areas including portfolio construction and management, asset allocation, ALM, and journey planning. He sits on various leadership groups at Mercer, works across multiple institutional investment client segments and is a member of the Asset Allocation Committee.

James read Economics at the University of Warwick graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in 2001. He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (FIA) in 2007. In 2016 James was recognised by Financial News' as one of their "40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Asset Management".
