James is a partner who established the risk transfer team at Hymans Robertson when he joined the firm in 2007, having previously worked at Hewitt (now Aon) for nine years. His expertise is working with trustees and sponsoring employers to help them find opportunities to reduce their pension scheme's risks in a cost-effective way. James and his risk transfer team have advised on well over 100 buy-in and longevity swap transactions ranging from £5m to £6bn in size, including 28 with FTSE 100 sponsoring employers. These transactions have insured around £50bn of pension scheme liabilities. James is also a regular speaker at conferences and his views on buy-ins, buy-outs and longevity hedging are often quoted in the press

Lisa is a scheme actuary and provides advice to trustees on a broad range of issues impacting defined benefit pension schemes. She predominantly works with large pension scheme clients and plays a key role in advising on long-term strategy and risk management. Given her large scheme focus, in recent years she has been working with clients on developing surplus sharing frameworks and she has used this experience to help shape Hymans service offering for clients considering run on. More broadly, she has a keen interest in climate risk and chairs our climate change steering group, which supports the integration of climate risk across all of our services and helps influence industry developments via consultation responses and external engagement.

Donna is Head of Member Experience for Hymans Robertson where she leads the development and delivery of member experience to ensure that schemes are equipped to place members needs at the heart of their decision-making throughout their risk transfer project. She is also a senior member of Hymans Buy-out and wind-up transition services team where she spends her time working with Trustees and Sponsors to help them prepare for and subsequently wind up their schemes efficiently, with a passion for ensuring members are fully supported and considered throughout the journey to buyout.

Graham’s recently been applying his confident, straightforward and pragmatic style to helping his clients consider whether run-on and surplus sharing could be the optimal outcome for both sponsors and members.
