Richard joined Capital Cranfield as a Professional Trustee in 2019 from a background in commercial, risk and governance roles with BP. His trustee experience includes the Church of England Pension Board where he chairs the pension committee, as Chair of the British Gas Pension scheme, Trustee of a £2bn European cross border plan, Member of the Pension Committee of a £1bn LPGS scheme and as Chair of a number of not-for-profit’s pension funds.

He has complementary experience as a sponsor and as a Trustee on defined benefit, defined contribution and hybrid pension funds of sizes ranging from under £5m to over £20bn. He has had extensive involvement in commercial transactions, negotiating pension funding and pension scheme mergers with particular expertise in investment and integrated risk management. He has also has a long term interest in Renewables/ESG.
